German Christmas Market

Never before have I walked around the streets of Birmingham with a huge permanent smile on my face. But there's something about the German market that does it.

Everybody is kind and jolly, from the men with their great big beer bellys to the little children scoffing their faces with crepes and waffles.

If it wasn't absolutely freezing I would go every night!

I visited (not for the first time) with my beautiful girlfriend Farzarna, we did some shopping, spending what's left of our student loans this term, and headed out braving the cold.

First stop, hot drinks. And if anything was going to stop us from feeling the cold it was going to be a Baileys Hot Chocolate or as they called it 'Santa's Dream'.

My dream too.

They have lots of hot drinks on offer, German mulled wine and a huge range of beers too.
We snuggled up close and strolled along, browsing the German goodies the market has to offer.

Beautiful hand-made ornaments and great stocking fillers.

As well as the delicious street food. Savoury jumbo hot dogs and pretzels as well as sweet pancakes and gingerbread treats.

Me and my christmas pudding hat from River Island.

It's a perfect night out for everyone, and the mixture of people there is what makes it so special. Families with children playing funfair games, couples at the bars and on the ferris wheel on dates and huge crowds standing chatting away.

I absolutely LOVE the Ted Baker window, I couldn't not snap a picture.

The hugest tree ever!!

We stayed relatively mature (for us)... until...

We just had to be children on the merry-go-round,
If you fancy a trip to Birmingham, it's one of the best things about the city in Winter,
Froehliche Weinachten!!
