I always find the week after Christmas goes insanely fast and suddenly it's New Years Eve.
The thought of being in a rammed club and arguing with people over whose getting the next taxi home wasn't too appealing this year.
And I was desperate to see the fireworks in London.
So me and Joe wrapped up warm and headed into town with the thousands of other people.
We decided to go somewhere we could have a laugh and eat a lot of great food. Nobody does it better than the Mexicans, taco's and tequila.
Wahaca is a great little buzzy Mexican joint and they have a few restaurants in and around London. There's a no reservation policy, but if it's too busy they sit you at the bar and you can have tortillas and a few drinks. We were quickly seated and browsed the menu. It's huge.
As it was a reason to celebrate, tequila came first. There was over 20 different types of tequila shots on the menu!!! I guess I'm an amateur. We chose the easy way out.
And onto the food. We have a habit of always over ordering. Better to leave stuffed then hungry though!
Tacos, tostadas, quesadillas and burritos we got them all.
And spicy slaw and sweet potato chunks
Having wiped up preettyyy well we very sadly skipped dessert, which looked amazing chocolate churros and salted caramel ice-cream would have been my choices. Just before we left we played a few games of table football, no comment on the result.
We strolled around Soho and Leicester Square and had a few drinks before venuturing on to Primrose Hill to watch the fireworks. Crowds of tens of thousands huddled up, setting off sparklers and lanterns into the sky. A few attempted early countdowns into the new year and then the London Eye lit up, the sky lights started flashing and 15 minutes of amazing fireworks.
Such a lovely night with my gorgeous boyfriend. A happy, healthy New Year to you all! I'm still in need of a New Years resolution any ideas you care to share?
